Mary Winifred Shanahan
« on: Friday 25 February 11 15:35 GMT (UK) »
Hi

Looking for the above Mary W Shanahan

I understand that she was born circa 1880 in Tramore Co Waterford

I have looked at the 1901 census and whilst I have found a Shanahan family in Tramore there is no Mary listed so
I am  just wondering if i've missed something that a fresh pair of eyes will pick up

Many Thanks

Tom

Hello Tom,

1901 has a Mary Shannahan 17 yrs- parents Michael and Johanna at Ballycarnane, Tramore.
There are several children so hopefully, if you know more about Mary, this may help.

best wishes
heywood

Hi Heywood

Thank you for your help and advice, believe it or not I have a very old photo of a Maggie Shanahan with a handwritten
note on the reverse which is not really clear to read but I think it says Maggie or Mary and I thought the word was Ballycarney

Also I'm not really clear on the townland bit when looking at the census returns, so do I put Tramore and then Ballcarnane, I would be greatful  for  your help please

Kind Regards

Tom

Sorry about that Tom- with you saying you had looked at the census, I thought all would be well.

Here is a link:
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Waterford/Tramore/Ballycarnane/1760052/

Ballycarnane is the townland; Tramore is the DED (District Electoral Division)

There is a 4 yr old Marguerite Shannahan in 1901 and in 1911 she is Margaret Shanahan So the photo could be a Maggie.

regards
