FREE Gravestone Photographs for West Lothian

I found this site today 'Gravestone Photographic Resource' www.gravestonephotos.com/index.php which offers a free copy of any of the grave monument photographs that have been taken by volunteers. Not sure why I have never seen this before as it covers a number of cemeteries in the Lothian counties! It looks to be a great service by volunteers  :) The lists of churches covered for West Lothian are:

Queensferry Municipal Cemetery, South Queensferry
Municipal Cemetery, Kirkliston
Priory Parish Church, South Queensferry
St Cuthbert Parish Church, Dalmeny
Vennel Kirk Parish Church, South Queensferry

The current churchyard or municipal cemetery sites that have been fully or partially indexed can be viewed here www.gravestonephotos.com/public/cemeteries.php

Clear instructions are included on the site for requests.

I've added this link to the West Lothian Resources page www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,504565.0.html for future reference. A number of Midlothian cemeteries are also included.

Hello again Monica

I've sent my Whitburn photos and transcriptions to them, and they're getting the West Calder and Carnwath ones I have as well, even got my volunteer badge!!  I got some great photos of some of the Dean Cemetery in Edinburgh from Chales Sale, the Adminstrator.   They'll take any amount of photos even if you've just a few of a particular cemetery.

Don't know anything about the site specificially, George. Just posted the link for general interest. I would imagine it will grow according to contributors' efforts  :)

As I understand it, this is a volunteer project and the graveyards covered will depend on the individual volunteers' choices.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
