He married Jessie Mary DUCK in 1911. I'll look wider for you after Anzac Day.

I found the following references for both Phillip Henry and Jessie RICHARDSON:

1914 Electoral Roll for Wellington City Suburbs p.93:
#4567 Richardson, Jessie May (sic) Buckingham Street, Maranui, married.
#4569 Richardson, Phillip Henry, Buckingham Street, Maranui, draper.

1919 Electoral Roll for Wellington City Suburbs p. 148:
#7262 Richardson, Jessie May (sic) Buckingham Street, Maranui, married.
#7266 Richardson, Phillip Henry, Buckingham Street, Maranui, draper.

Buckingham Street is in the suburb now known as Lyall Bay and is on the hill overlooking the airport to the east. I checked the rest of the Wellington Rolls, but couldn’t find either Philip or Jessie living there.

I checked NZ deaths 1920-30 inclusive and happened to find two deaths of a Jessie Richardson, probably too early, but none for a Phillip. If you can tell me how old Jessie or Phillip were, or when they might have died I’ll broaden the search for their deaths.

Finally, it appears that the NZ Society of Genealogists http://www.genealogy.org.nz/index.html may have a copy of the marriage certificate of Jessie DUCK and Phillip RICHARDSON. I suggest you email them at nzsg-contact@genealogy.org.nz I presume there will be a charge.

Happy hunting,

Tor

Hi Tor,
Thank you so much for the info you sent me. That is my husband's grandparents. I don't know whether he arrived in N.Z. by himself but I do know he came to Australia about 1914.My father-in-law was born in Lane Cove, Sydney and his sisters. Phillip Richardson died in Sydney 1961 and Jessie died before him. My husband can't believe how quick I got an answer. I'd loved to know why he picked N.Z. and then Australia.
I'll try that website you gave me.

Thanks again

Hi Tor,
Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you. Between health problems and the info I've been getting from Yorkshire site has kept me busy. I was wondering if you could find more info on Jessie Duck's family in Wellington. Her father's name is Thomas Duck and the Mother's is Jessie Urquhart. Any info would be appreciated. Jessie Jnr. was born about 1883. If you come across anything more about Phillip Henry Richardson arriving in N.Z. that would be beaut too.

Thanks again
Regards
STRICKO  :)

Hi stricko,

A Thomas DUCK married a Jessie F URQUHART in 1873.

'Victoria AUS to NZ Passenger lists' have a T DUCK, a single miner aged 18 who arrived on the ship RESULT to Otago in 1862.

The '1893 Electoral Roll (Women)' lists a Jessie DUCK living in the Wairarapa Electorate, which is the wide plain on the other side of the Rimutaka ranges to the north-west of Wellington.

I'll see if i can find Jessie Jnr's date and place of birth for you.

Regards, Tor

Hi Tor,
I am so sorry to have taken so long to thank you. I am so excited when I get the info. I tried looking for things after your info. and searched so many web sites, but no luck. My pain got so bad, I had to have some rest from the computer.
Any more info would be greatly appreciated. I would also love to know when Phillip Richardson arrived in New Zealand and if he came alone.

Here's hoping,
Thanks
Judy

Jessie May DUCK was born in Wellington in 1883, June quarter, folio no. 1412.

Apart from the links I provided in an earlier post "Resources for genealogists..." you could try Petone Settlers Museum settlers@huttcity.govt.nz
for the arrival of either DUCK or RICHARDSON. They have an excellent database. I can't recall the closing year, unfortunately.

Hi Judy,

This afternoon while in the library I happened to see the name DUCK on the cover of a genealogy magazine, 'The Greenwood Tree. The Somerset & Doreset Family History Society May 2005 Vol 30 No 2'.

The article within discusses the family of Thomas DUCK age 30, wife Susan 35, and their children Elizabeth 9, Samuel 8, Thomas 5, Pricilla 2, and Susan, a few months old, arriving in Melbourne on the 'SS Great Britain' on 6 October 1870 ex Liverpool after a voyage of 59 days. it includes a photo of the aprents Thomas and Susan. The contributer was an Ivan Duck.

Any chance they could be connected to your mob?
