I'm trying to trace a marriage for Kate (her birth name was registered as Kate, not Catherine, Katharine etc.), the birth of her two children and her husband's death. Kate's parents were Allan BLAIR and Agnes Wier SCOTT.
Kate appears (as Kate S BLAIR, mistranscribed on Ancestry as Kate S BLAVI) on the 1901 census at 4e Blenheim Mansions, St. Marylebone, aged 32, widowed, born Scotland, with a daughter (also Kate S) aged 6, born East Ham. I think this is likely to be my Kate, but cannot be certain.
Kate appears on the 1911 census (as K Scott BLAIR) at 31(?) Upper Baker Street, (Marylebone), aged 42, widowed (does not give number of years married, states 2 children, both alive), with a son Andrew Scott BLAIR, aged 17, born East Ham. This is certainly 'my' Kate as her nephew, Stuart BRIERLEY is with her.
On both census records Kate gives her surname and that of her children as BLAIR (ie her maiden name, unless she married a BLAIR).
I cannot find a marriage for a Kate Scott BLAIR on ScotlandsPeople. The only marriage in Marylebone which could(?) fit the bill is a Catharine BLAIR with either Arthur Edward KEYS or Richard Lewis ROBERTS Q2 1895 Marylebone 1a 1061, but I can't find deaths for these men which would make Kate a widow by 1901.
I have searched FreeBMD for births of Kate (Scott) and Andrew Scott without a surname, born West Ham RD (which I think is where East Ham would be) in the 1890s. Both these searches come back blank.
Any help much appreciated.
