All observations welcome, dating too please
« on: Thursday 30 June 11 10:39 BST (UK) »
Does anyone think that these four photographs are of the same woman? It's the distinctive nose that does it for me but then again I think the first one could be a sister of the other(s).
In the middle I've added a smaller version of the photo I posted earlier today of an older woman who has the same nose, all of these photos were in the possession of the same person named Evelyn Skinner. Evelyn was born at Cranbrook, Kent in 1879 and died at Hastings, Sussex in 1976, a spinster. She had six sisters and one brother, most of her sisters married and had children but one of them, Alice, had just the one son so these photos could be of her. I believe Evelyn went to live with her sister Alice about 1938 in Hastings. Three of these photos were taken in Hove, Sussex & the only link to Hove I can find is that Evelyn was living there in the 1911 census as a Lady Help to two elderly ladies.
Any & all observations will be most welcome as will be the dating if at all possible thank you.

My personal opinion is that photos 2 & 4 are definately the same woman.
Photo 3 I'm torn on - very, very similar so I'm tempted towards thinking it's the same woman again.  :-\
Photo 1 I think is someone else, but so similar looking that a sister is likely.

As for the dating, I'll leave that to the experts.  :D

The 4 main pictures were taken around the same time, early 1900's,realistically could be any part of the decade.
I think 2,3, & 4 are the same woman with p.3 being the earliest. The boy looks about 6 if it helps.
Pretty girls whoever they are.

I found an online piece on the photographer which has him at this studio between 1899 & 1908 - if that's accurate & he used all the mounts with that address in the same period that would suggest the same sort of date as previous posters have given.

Thank you everyone, you've more or less confirmed what I thought. It's good to know the date is around the first decade of 1900, that will definately help me determine who they are. The young boy I suspect to be Albert Joseph Martin, born in 1897 and son of Alice Martin nee Skinner.

Jim, at first I wondered what you meant about 'same chair' until I read the excellent article on Henry W Tubb, so thank you for that link mshrmh.
