green family 74 cosgrove street
« on: Friday 26 August 11 21:13 BST (UK) »
I think my father`s family came from Belfast as his aunt Sarah Jane Goodwin, nee Green, stated her address on her marriage certificate as 74 Cosgrove St., Belfast & his other aunt Margaret Hughes, nee Green stated he was a team owner but unfortunately he died before 1913.   His son also William John married Mary Peacock also from Belfast & he became caretaker at the Linacre Wesleyan Mission, Liverpool, so I presume they were m embers of their respective Orange Lodges.   I`d be very glad of any help

Back to the Green family.   Does anyone know how to contact West Belfast Orange Lodge as I hope they may have some records of the Greens.   It`s so difficult when there are no census records left before 1901.   Any more tips very gratefully taken.

If he lived on Cosgrove st., & it`s near Shankill Road, could it be the Shankill Lodge?   I`m Scottish & ashamed to say I don`t know very much about
Belfast

Hi
there were/are lots of Orange Lodges in the Shankill area, Number 9 District Orange Order) Shankill Road is based at Shankill Road Orange hall, and includes many Lodges from the Shankill, There are also Districts 1,2,3, Orange Order based at Clifton Street Orange Hall which also includes lots of Lodges from the Shankill area as well, so you would need to know the name or number of the Lodge they belonged to ,to have any chance of finding out any info.
