FHL records
« on: Saturday 10 December 11 19:32 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
Back on the genealogy trail again after some basic information regarding what details are on a FHL Film for a Civil Birth Registration.  The birth was in 1924. I have the film number etc and mothers maiden name. I just want to know what else is likely to be recorded ie Fathers name, place of birth etc
I can not easily access my nearest centre so I need to know if it is worthwhile!
Cheers
John

Is the film for the index or the actual certificate?

A birth registration will have the following details- date and place of birth, name of child (if un-named then 'male' or 'female'), father's name and occupation, mother's name (including maiden name if any), date of registration, name and address of informant (parent or other person present at birth).
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

It is for the index.  There are two entries I want to lookup, although I suspect one is a typo. Can these lookups be requested anywhere or do I have to visit a centre in person?  Having the fathers name and an address would be absolutely brilliant. This is a dead end I have been facing for ten years and I now feel I am very close to the answer I have been seeking!
Thanks for your rapid response bye the way  :)
