ARCHARD Corsham
« on: Tuesday 28 February 12 10:57 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone help

My great great great great grandmother was a Sarah Archard who married in Middlesex a Joseph East. Someone told me that Sarah's mother lived in the Corsham Alms houses, Wiltshire in 1830s. Doe anyone know where I might find any record of this. I have spoken to Corsham but at the moment no luck. Just wondered if anyone had access to any records

Thanks

Gill

Hi ***40

1841 census shows a Sarah Archard B; 1798, living in District Caine Union Workhouse, Wiltshire with her children Mary Anne 12, Amelia 10, Sarah 8, George 6, Betty 4 and Sophia 5m.

Ancestry has a few trees that have other details.

Good Luck

Have you any idea what Sarah's mothers name was?   I see that Sarah married Joseph East in 1810, do you have her on census?

12 years old is a big light on to be getting married, even in those days.

My first impression was that "Archard" may actually be Orchard with some kind of hillbilly accent.   But actually Archard in Corsham goes back a long way,   you might find something interesting here:
