Hi My name is  Margaret and I believe we share the same family tree my grand father was George norman and his dad was also George Norman and his Mother was Mary Kate Maloney they lived in Galway and moved to Scotland. Perhaps we could help each other My Granddad father was born in India. I have only just started to look in the last couple of weeks so I don't have lots of information.

The original question was specifically how to get a birth certificate.   Trying to get the answer to the question you asked around here is like Arthur trying to get to Camelot!

It happens that this is not obscure information.

If she'd been born n northern Ireland or before a certain date, the birth record would be available  from http://www.nidirect.gov.uk/index/do-it-online/government-citizens-and-rights-online/order-a-birth-certificate.htm

Their web site and procedures may have changed.   Several years ago I wrote a letter, including my debit card information, and faxed it to them, and two or three weeks later along came the death record in the mail.

I'd phone them and find out if that's the correct place given Galway and the date, and if not they'll probably tell you exactly where you actually need to go.
