« on: Saturday 01 September 12 14:48 BST (UK) »
I'm looking for basic biographical information on some early male Scottish lawn tennis players, who took part in the Scottish Championships tournament circa 1890-1910.

I'm looking for first name(s), the date and place of birth and date and place of death. Here is what I have at the moment:

Clements, W.L.
--

Conyers, E.
Conyers J.H.
--

Howden, C.R.A.
--

Higginbotham, J.R.K.
Higginbotham, C.H.J.
--

Laing, A.O.
Laing, J.D.
--

Orr, J.E.
--

Peacocke, Rev. W.D.
--

Yuille, T.J.
-----

Any help would be appreciated.

I have further information on Charles from "Scottish Biographies 1938", if anyone's interested. :) I'm not sure if Mark is seeking more details. Hume, are you connected to the Howdens?

No, not related, just found the info through the census, etc. They appear to be an interesting family though. :)

Higginbotham, J.R.K.

John Ronald Ker [sic] Higginbotham
b. 10th February 1871 in Larbert, Stirlingshire
d. 8th Nov 1925 in Sonora, Mexico
parents Charles T. Higginbotham and Agnes Kerr

More on the family here; http://www.higginbotham.com.au/familyhistory.html. The website is run by a descendant of John's elder brother, Robert. Maybe a contact would lead to more info. The site also mentions a nephew, Herbert Charles - possible for Higginbotham, C.H.J. depending on dates?
