John BLAGG between 1815 and 1842
« on: Sunday 03 July 05 18:00 BST (UK) »
I am looking for any information at all about a JOHN BLAGG born between 1815 and 1822  I believe he lived in Ashley Staffordshire and was a Canal Boatman, he was possibly married as he had either the mark from a ring or a ring on the 3rd finger of his left hand,
He was employed by a John Owen in Ashley as a canal boatman.
I would be gratefull for any information on his birth or marriage or maybe in a census but if the person was still in the area after 1842 then it is not him as the John Blagg I am seeking was my great great grandfather who was in Australia by May 1842. Some how after arriving in Australia his name changed to Blegg
Thank you to any one who can help me

Hi my great grandfather was David Allen Blegg , he was 1 of five sons to  John Blagg (Blegg) and Margaret Buckingham .  John was born around 1818 presumablely in England or the Uk  ,  He had a  Trial date of 30 June 1840 age 22 and was convicted on the  5 Jan 1841 in Stafford and sentanced to 7 years and  transported to Tasmania  (Vandiemans land) 30 Nov 1841  arrived  in Tasmania 1842.   He  married  in 1873 in Hamilton Tasmania and Died 5 Dec 1890 in Hamilton Tasmania Australia . It would  appear that we are all looking to trace his ancestry , I would like to have contact with any one related or with any information.

Thanks Craig
