Theres one at Hunslet Cemetery nr Leeds.
On the back it reads something along the lines of:-

"If you wish to lead a healthy life, abstain from intoxicating drinks, then you may live out the days that were alloted to you".

A dead alcoholic maybe?

HI again heres a grave stone i found in st Andrew church yard in the village of PRESTIGNE ,
To the memory of Mary Morgan
                        who young and beautful,endowed
                        with a good understanding anddisposition
but unenlightend by the sacred truth of
christianity become the victim of sin and shame
and was comdemned to an ignominious
Death on the 11th April 1805,
For the murder of her b****** child

Rous'd to a first sense of guilt and remorse
by the eloquent and humane exertions of her benevolent
judge ,Mr Justice Hardinge ,she underwent the
sentence of the law on the following Thursday
with unfeigned repentance and a furvent hope
of forgivenefs through the merit of a redeeming
                       intercefsor .

This stone is erected not merely to perpetuate the
remembrance of a departed penitent but to remind
the living of the farilty of humannature when
                                 unsupported by religion ....

Thomas Bruce Brudenell Bruce Earl of
                                          AILESBURY...

                    So take note  :D

Hi there

With over 10,000 inscriptions in my data base (8000 of which have been transcribed by my own hand) - how many do you want me to write out?

Hi again

June 5th 1820 - All Saints, Hastings.
Here lies an only darling boy
Who was his widowed mothers joy
Her grief and sad affliction prove
How tenderley she did him love

In childish play he teased a mule
Which rag'd its owners angry soul
And thro whose cruel blows and spleen
This child so soon a corpse was seen

This mother now is left to mourn
The loss of her beloved son
Tho sighs and tears will prove in vain
She hopes in Heaven to meet again

PS - The owner of the mule was charged at Lewes Assizes with 'feloniously kiling and slaying' the boy, but he was acquitted.

Hi

How about this one from 1683:

Youth was his age
Virginity was his state
Learning his love
Consumption his fate

or this from 1775 - (Actual cause of death was Smallpox)

Kind reader stop & drop a tear
For him who now lies sleeping here
A husband, loving parent kind
A friend and neighbour good you'll find
His widow left in great distress
With six small children fatherless
But may God of his goodness send
To them a kind assisting friend.
