Have you searched for the family in 1911 census yet? 1901 census should soon be added to the website.

Thanks for the reply.
Thomas and the family moved to Glasgow shortly after he was born. I have them here on the 1891 and 1901 census. I really wanted the details of his mother from the birth cert.

If Thomas was in Glasgow in 1891, a birth in 1894 in Newry doesn't seem likely :)  In any case no Warburton births were registered in Newry Registration district in the 1880s or 1890s (though there is a Thomas Warburton born in Athlone district in 1885 who is the closest match).

See the index to civil registration at this website (& give it lots of time to open):-

Can't see any Edwin Warburton (birth, death or marriage) listed in civil index for Ireland. Are there older children listed in 1891 and 1901 census? if so, where and when were they born?

WHOOPS.. :o  The birth SHOULD have read about1884!! I have his army records from Kew and it states on his enlistment papers into the Highland Light Infantry (TF) in 1908 that he was born in Newry Co. Down. A birth certificate I have for his younger sister states the parents as being married in Dublin in 1888..!! again I could find no record of this either.  The Thomas Warburton born in Athlone district in 1885.. is his  father name Edwin by any chance?
Thanks for all the replies.

The civil index doesn't give details- you have to order the birth certificate to find the details.
One thought- if parents were married in 1888 and he was born in 1884 his birth would probably be registered under his mother's surname.

Hi,
Which type of birth certificate have you got for the younger sister. I am not aware of any which specify the place of parents marriage!!
