Hi Susan

Do you know how old either of them were? Or places of birth?
Cheers

The only birth for Crowley / Keeler on FreeBMD is Rose J Crowley Jun qu 1919 but it is in Bradford is this the child

Jack Crowley  Sep qu 1923 also Bradford.

If Annie Elizabeth had been married before she wouldnt have been Keeler when she remarried.

Hi Susan

If Annie Elizabeth KEELER was having children as late as 1923, she would be unlikely to be born much before 1875 at the  most (ie: she'd be abt 48 in 1923).

And if she was having children as early as 1919, she would be unlikely to be born much after 1904 (ie she'd be 15 in 1919). Notwithstanding she may never have been registered as born KEELER......

Searching for :
Ann* Elizabeth KEELER
births 1875 to 1901 anywhere in England

Results:
Births Sep 1874
KEELER  - Ann Elizabeth  Bridge (Kent)
This one probably married Sep Qtr 1900 to Daniel Harrap KEELER or Thomas Norris MARSH

Births Mar 1876
KEELER - Ann Elizabeth   Newmarket (Cambs/Suffolk)
This one possibly married Dec Qtr 1901 in Newmarket to Thomas Henry HOBBS or William Robert LISTER

Births Sep 1882
KEELER - Annie Elizabeth   Prescot (Lancs)

Births Dec 1901
KEELER -  Annie Elizabeth   Guisbro' (North Ridings, YKS)

All in all, my money's on the Lancashire lass.....
And it being what is looking to be like complexities in her birth family which are conributing toward the CROWLEY marriage mystery....

In 1871, Joseph KEELER was in the household of his parents - but was already married:

MARRIAGE:
Joseph KEELER and Sarah Ann ARMISON - Dec Qtr 1870 - Bradford

1871: 23 King Charles St, Bradford East End, Yorkshire

Head: John KEELER 48, Combing machine -------, b Norwich, Norfolk
Wife: Elizabeth KEELER 51, b Wild Grove Head, Yks
Son: James KEELER 29, marr, Overlooker, b b Wild Grove Head, Yks
Son: Joseph KEELER 21, marr, Combing machine -------, b Cullingworth Yks
Wife of Jos'h: Sarah A KEELER 19, marr, Combing machine -------, b Rotherham Yks

Dau of John: Susannah KEELER 16, unm, Worsted Spinner, b Cullingworth Yks

So I think Sarah and Betty are his children by that marriage.

Can't find:
Birth of Sarah KEELER abt 1873  - and where is "Roaham" or "Rodham"?
But I think she was really born in Rotherham (Yks WRY) - and in 1881 Census she would be 9 going on 10.
BIRTH : Sep Qtr 1871 - Sarah KEELER - Rotherham

I think her sister Betty would possibly only be 8 at time of 1881 Census??

Can't find
Any of them Joseph & Martha or the children (whether together or not)  in 1901!
Help! Anyone?

Can't find
Marriage of Joseph KEELER to Martha Ann.
Was she really 25 in 1881? (year of birth abt 1856)
Was she really 29 in 1891 and 42 at death (year of birth circa 1861/1862)

can't find
Birth of Clara G KEELER between Dec Qtr 1890 and Mar Qtr 1891 in Bradford district.
I think she was possibly  not registered as KEELER - and thf.  possibly not Joseph's biological daughter?
is she registered as? :
BIRTH: Clara Gill PORTER - Mar Qtr 1891 - Bradford

And interestingly,
BIRTH :  Martha Ann GILL - Dec Qtr 1860 - Bradford

Cheers

The question re: not finding these KEELERs  in 1901.....

Found this:
http://listsearches.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/ENG-YKS-BRADFORD/2007-11/1196434721

A major part of 1901 for Horton is apparently missing off A*y.
Only 292 reported if I ask for all person born Horton who reside in Horton - compare to 4200 odd in 1891, 3700 odd in 1881.

Hopefully it may not be actually missing altogether, rather just off the big A*y. ie: Would still be findable on Fische version etc etc.

I also can't find Betty KEELER in 1901 - she seems to have married in 1893 to a  PICKLES (Allen or John).

Darn, I was hoping to find Martha in 1901, see what her name was down as, what any  children still at home were down as....

Ambly you are a star thank you so much for working so hard on my behalf :) :) :) :) it is very much appreciated, I have spent hours trying to find them on the 1901 census, I think you are correct and the Annie Elizabeth born Lancashire is the correct one.
Many, many thanks once again, I have certainly a lot to check through here.

Kind regards Susan
