Peter McAulay married to a Julia (maybe Spanish)
« on: Sunday 12 September 10 15:04 BST (UK) »
Hi

Does anyone have info on the above.

Peter's birth date was about 1923 1823 in Ireland.  His first wife was Julia and appears on various documents as Stridgien, Stridgem, Sturgeon and Strachan.  There is a family myth about a spaniard in the family.  Might have been julia.

By 1957 1857 he was remarried so assume that julia was dead.

Could you please confirm the details of what you are looking for before any more searching is done.

Is it Peter McAulay born circa 1823 who married a Julia ? (she died before 1857)?

And where does John McAulay born c1846 Ireland come into this?

Sorry about the earlier confusion.

John McAulay is the son of Peter and Julia.  Both Peter and John can be found in Glasgow with Ireland as their place of birth.    Peter was remarried in 1857 as he had another child (Catherine) with his new wife m.s. Rafferty.

That's okay- have amended two of your posts to make them less confusing.

Julia might have died in Ireland (between 1846-1857) but civil registration of deaths didn't start until 1864. Registration of births also started in 1864 so there will be no birth certificate for John.

Does Peter's second marriage certificate give any family details such as parents' names, etc.
