Hi, I'm trying to trace William Briden of Carlisle, he is described as a Grocer on his daughter Ruth's marriage certificate.

Do you have any other information on them?
Do you know Ruths mother or siblings names?
When & where was she married?
Do you know how old William would be in 1841?
Can you tell me how old Ruth would be in 1841?
Sorry, but you haven't given me much to go on and Carlisle is a big area to search.

Hi Ange, Ruth Briden was born Carlisle 1815-7, the daughter of William -no mothers name- had sister Mary who spelled her name Bryden on Ruths marriage certificate, Ruth married Isaac Gillbanks 19 Oct 1841 at St. Thomas Liverpool. William described as Grocer.
I am afraid that is all I have. I have an Esther Brookfield married to Henry Edward Gillbanks 1922 in Liverpool Jim.

Hi Jim,
It would probably be best to try Liverpool for them first, as she was there in Oct 1841. If they are not found there then I will look in Carlisle.
As her sister was a witness to her marriage, it points to maybe her family being in Liverpool rather than just Ruth.

Hi Ange, yes I have thought of that, but have had no success, Mary may have come to L'pool just for the wedding, I'll have another search though. Thanks for taking an interest.
