Hi Aghadowey.
Yes I've been to the Belfast newspaper library, they don't have copy's of Omagh newsprint for the date requested.  They did have micro film for other
Tyrone papers but no mention there. I'm pretty sure the burial took place in the Presbyterian churchyard but have been told by a local undertaker that there were no records kept at that time (1939). I know that recording BMD's was law but not sure about churchyard burials, your at this game a lot longer than I am I'd appreciate your input. Belfast beau.

Presbyterian churches in Ireland usually didn't keep burial records. If you are extremely lucky there may be a minister's or sexton's notebook which survive. You would need to contact the church to ask this.

Hi Aghadowey.
Thanks for your input I'm not sure what Presbyterian church it would be or even what council I should contact. I'm not familiar with the area and not sure if the Council would give out the information, I guess its worth a try.  I'll leave the post up for another few days to see what happens.Again many thanks for your advice. If the burial took place in a Presbyterian churchyard the council will not have any records to do with this (they will only keep records for council-run cemeteries or old ground they have taken over).
To complicate matters, many Presbyterians will be buried in Church of Ireland graveyards- either because there's a family plot or their own church had no graveyard.

Strawletterdallan is in Ardstraw civil parish, near Newtownstewart, and comes under Strabane District Council. There's a list of 'their' cemeteries/graveyards here- be aware that there will be no records for many of them or in other cases the records will only be recent ones:
