Ernest Evans George Vickers

I am trying to find the birth or baptism of Ernest Vickers.

According to the 1901 Census he was born c. 1896 in Henley On Thames, Oxfordshire.  His father was Frederick Vickers born c. 1872 Maidenhead, and his mother Louisa Ann Evans born c. 1866 Wokingham.

On his son's (George Ernest Vickers) birth certificate his name was given as George Ernest Vickers.  On his death certificate his name was given as Ernest George Vickers. 

Ernest's wife was Eliza Sophia Jenkins. 

Him and his family are on the 1901 and 1911 census and I have found most of his childrens births but I just cannot find his!

In 1918 he was a Pte in the 47th Batt. M.G.C. but I cannot find any records relating to him that gives his birth!

I have sent for quite a few birth certificates for around 1896 but to date none of them have been the right one!

I was wondering if anyone could possibly find him on the Parish Records.

If they arec the Family in Lewisham 1901 - RG13; Piece: 548; Folio: 33; Page: 6 - the children have no PoBs shown?


Did you get Henley from the 1911 census?

Are you sure that he was born a Vickers? And not born to mum (Evans) before the parents married?

Yes, was sidetracked by something else, but thats my Q too - esp as he was born before their marriage in Reading - 1Q 1896

Possibly born to dad and not mum(could dad have been married before?)

OOps don't know where I got Maidenhead from....unless it was from where his dad was born

Thank you for all your replies!

I have tried the 1894 birth but it is not my Ernest sadly.  I must admit I havent tried the reading one, or at least I dont think I have!  I have sent for so many over the last few weeks!!

Frederick and Louisa were married on 29th Jan. 1896 in Reading. 

I thought that perhaps he might have been born as Evans but I know I have tried them all and they are not mine, so I am now concentrating on Vickers.  He has got to be somewhere!!
