Charlotte Cole's birth

Hi

I am trying to find the birth/baptism of my 2x gt grandmother Charlotte Cole...She was born c1847 in Kent...Her father according to her marriage cert (1867) was a James Cole (Hawker)..I am having trouble finding her as in the 1871 and 1881 census she has her place of birth as Folkestone but in the 1891 and 1901 she has it as Dover!!
Charlotte dies in 1908 in Folkestone..

I have tried the 1851 and 1861 census for a Charlotte with the father as James and the only one I can find is born in Greenwich, Kent....

Any help would be appreciated

Hi Jules, do you have any marriage witnesses for the marriage?

Was she living in Folkestone 1871-1901?  If so, I would imagine some connection to the Dover area for that to be her given birthplace in 1891 and 1901.  Have you looked at Charlott COLES age 4 in the Dover area in the 1851 census?

The witness's for her maariage are her husbands brother and his wife...She stays in Folkestone until  her death in 1908...
Have already checked the 1851 census and the only charlotte born c1847 with father James is the one born Greenwich, Kent...

It could be that the father part on the certificate isn't quite right though ............ a transcription error/mistake/father generally known by a pet name rather than his name at baptism/convenience for an illegitimate child to save giving no father/mother remarrying etc. etc. thus looking for any Charlotte girls bc1847 in the Dover area brings up "Charlott COLES" in the 1851 census ............. it's worth checking out.

Ok, scrap that Charlott COLES in Dover that I mentioned above for now but I do wonder about this family ............. right location/occupation/name of father, I just can't find them earlier than 1871 yet ::)
