Helena Kate Goodall
« on: Thursday 18 March 10 14:23 GMT (UK) »
Hello.  Can anyone help me find Helena Kate Goodall b. 1871 Christchurch after she appears age 20 in the 1891 census for Portsea Island.  She was the daughter of Peter Goodall ( thought to have been born in 1830 in Aberdeenshire) and his wife Sarah whose maiden name should be Payne and she was born in Portsmouth in 1850.
Helena (Helen) is in Christchurch with her parents and brother John Samuel Goodall in 1871 and with her parents and brother in Pancras in 1881.  In 1891 I think she is a companion in the house of a female publican in Portsmouth.  Any help would be appreciated.  :)

She may have married  :-\ this is a long shot but thought it worth mentioning

There is a marriage record of an Eleanor Kate Goodall  Sept. q 1897 Davantry, Northampton. 3b - 221

On the same page are a George Grange and a William Newitt.

Maybe George Grange was a sailor, Portsea was and still is  very much a Naval area.

I'm looking forward to seeing what I can find out about George Grange.  Like you say, he might turn out to be a sailor.  It looks like the young Eleanor died in 1902.  The names and dates and places all seem to fit.  It would be interesting to get the certificates.  Helena (Eleanor) was the sister of my husbands's great grandfather John Samuel Goodall.  Thanks again to both of you.   :)
