1871 census-East Grinstead-Melville
« on: Thursday 14 April 05 22:25 BST (UK) »
Hello all,

Could someone please find Mary A. Melville for me in the 1871 census and also her husband. She should have one son called Charles and possibly another called Harry.

In 1881 she is living at Moat House, East Grinstead, age 38 and widowed.

Many thanks,
Phil

Thanks Willow,

That was quick- only just time for a cup of tea.

I've just acquired an old photo (not cheap) taken in the area. It was attributed to Melville, Grove House and supposedly 1880's. In 1881 Mary was a photographer, but the photo could only have been 1871 at the latest. That has answered the question.

Not my family history, just another of those little sidetracks.

Thanks again,

Phil
