Just had a thought ... perhaps these children may read the Herald Sun article and all your searching may be in vain. But at least it will be a happy outcome. :)
One son......could be alive still though as born 1914......I'll try checking before I post.......
Anyone who wants to know, please PM me.....
Cando.......PM on the way.....

Wonder if we should contact the Herald Sun to tell them what we've found.
We should ask them to contact Nick Lynch and ask him to get in touch.
Either of those should be fine.
I wonder if we can also ask the Herald Sun to publish the names of the sons and daughter that Cando so kindly found. Would they we allowed to publish names of probably living people?
No....don't think you could do that....or that they could.......
Thoughts anyone?
Have been offline for a while - many thanks Sue - I will email him a bit later (I prefer the 'impersonalness' of this method as opposed to a phonecall).
(I'm Mum's taxi tonight ferrying kids to parties :P so will be off and on rootschat all evening).
But, isn't Mark out of the country at the moment? (see original article ;D).
Hope he's got a blackberry and can pick up his emails ... ;)
This is exciting!
It is probably equally important to find Sgt Parr's descendants too. What will happen if we DO find them? Who will get the letter?
I hope the Forsters are interested in the family that have been found for them. Yes, please let us know of any developments Raylen. ;D
We could do with the expertise of some of those on the English board to help out with the search down the lines of the Parr/Newbon family.
I have just heard on the radio that Nick Lynch has thanked everyone for finding
Charles Forsters family
BUT
he still needs help in finding the family of Sgt Alfred J. Parr
Raylen
I hope it has given you "down under" a view of Loughborough as of today where. A lovely peacefull photo, we do not have anthying like that in the tropics of Queensland 8).
the 2 families would have lived
But it shows what you can do if you all work together and keep chipping away......very true Dee everyone contributes in some way be it big or small. It has been fun observing and watching with avid interest ..what comes next.
Morning all, well I have awoken to a further email from Derrick (whose mother was Alfred Parrs half sister) and have all his contact details, he is very keen to to have contact with Nick Lynch.
He tells me that Archibald Parr, Alfreds brother survived the war but suffered badly from shell shock, he used to visit him often in hospital. He has been unable to find anything about the other brother John Victor.
I would like to ask Nick how this treasure ended up in his father's shed?
You RootsChatters are amazing! I hope the Herald Sun will do another followup story.
Apparently Nick lynch's grandmother was a cousin to a girl called Alison. Uncle Charlie was writing letters and postcards to Alison so I assume she may have been a girlfriend. When uncle Charlie died , Alison never married or had a family so all her possessions went to her cousin (nick's grandmother) and eventually ended up in Nick's father's garage. I believe this is how it happened. Maybe you could find out who this Alison was. By the way, there is a possibility of this whole story being run on SBS tv as a documenary called "Not Forgotten". How exciting
There's a Bernard Harley in 1903 at Stratford......not sure if that is meant to be Barnard Hazlett Reeves or not. :-\

PS. I think at this stage if Jan doesn't have the proper sources, she should leave them out - what do others think? I think of this as just a rough tree outline to organise the families.
Here, here, Ruskie......it would be very sad if she disappeared into the sunset.....there's so much fun to be had on here......and so many friends to make..... :D :DHe went and bought his own....think he saw the writing on the wall
Mind you....Jan did mention something about her OH wanting his computer back..... ;) ;D ;D

Glen. I would be very happy for you to set up a tribal pages site for our family tree if that is not too much trouble. I can't believe that you rootschatters are still finding information on my family. :)The links to the ship which were carrying Uncle Charlie's belongings were so interesting. Thank you. Because of the publicity surrounding this ANZAC puzzle, a long lost 2nd cousin has been in touch with me. She has lots of family information. I am continually being surprised. :o Haven't heard any more from SBS tv at this stage.
Hi All
Has anyone seen this link.
Charles is listed.
There are some from Northamptonshire as I can see Northants Regiment.

One small thing I can add in here where I was a small child and we had only radio I listened to a show where John Ewart was the Voice of the Muddled headed wombat...any one else remember that!!

NORTON, John.d. 3/7/1960 aged 78
Sarah ADAM aged 76 died in 1910 at Dargo
Ref = 1249
Yes Sue the age difference bothered me also hence my curiousity getting the better of me, I think it is possible that he might have been 74 when he died, could be a mistranslation on the Death Index's
"NORTON, Peter.d.26/3/1918 aged 94
If this is Peter, the husband of Ellen, there seems to be 20 yr. age difference between them or else there is some misprinting along the line somewhere."
Sue
"So the death of Ellen Norton has the age right but wrong parents slightly and the death of Peter Norton parents are right but the age is out by 20 years."
Hi Jenn, I queried that age difference back there and I am glad it is obviously an error. It would have been a biggish age difference and it was confusing!!

Counterparts in France plan to honour the group in a ceremony at the Arc de Triumphe with the run to end at Hyde Park in London on May 18.

I have just been reading this thread with shivers going down my back. The person you are talking about is my great, great, great grandfather. I went to the battlefields where he was killed a few years ago and saw the anzac memorial with his name on it. Thank you all so much for your hard work on uncovering this, its truely amazing.
