My grandmother, Anna Jane ANDERSON b 1881 Keith, is dau of James John ANDERSON and Francess (possibly Frances) GARDEN m 1860 Botriphnie, Banffshire. (from Anna's birth record) Anna Jane ANDERSON had 3 siblings: Elizabeth (Eliza) b 1860 Botriphnie, Frances Mary b 1868 Keith, and James Alexander b 1878 Hester Chalder. Anna Jane and James Alexander emigrated to Canada a few years before 1911.
Family memory suggests that Francess had two brothers - Alexander GARDEN (called Sandy) and James GARDEN- no idea when they were born. Possibly neither was married.
I have not been able to find any information about Frances GARDEN's family and would be glad of any information anyone can provide.
Alexis :)

Hi and welcome to Rootschat
Family memory suggests that Francess had two brothers - Alexander ANDERSON (called Sandy) and James ANDERSON - no idea when they were born. Possibly neither was married.
Do you mean Alexander & James Garden if they were brothers of Frances?
The 1861 shows Frances as Fanny b 1842 Botriphnie

First of all, don't assign any sigificance to variants of spelling. Spelling was a moveable feast until about the 20th century, so there is no such thing as 'correct' spelling.
To find out who Frances' (and her husband's) parents were, go to www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk and invest in a few credits at modest cost. Use some of them to find and download their marriage certificate. This will tell you the full names of all the parents, including their mothers' maiden surnames. Use this information to search in the International Genealogical Index https://familysearch.org/search/collection/igi for siblings.
The might also be something of interest in LIBINDX at http://libindx.moray.gov.uk/mainmenu.asp

Carole W - thanks for noticing my error - I have corrected names to GARDEN. Also thanks for the 1851 census info.
Forfarian - thanks for the guidance re searching. As a newbie, I have mostly been using family info to create the base outline, and then trying to add info. Clearly there is a point where it is worthwhile to pay for information instead of wandering in the wilderness. Very much appreciate the help.

I think James & Alexander were a pair of confirmed bachelors as they are still with their parents in 1871 aged 45 and 39 respectively and living together in 1881
1881 for Botriphinie - address Westertown. They appear to be farming the same land as their father
