We are researching a Thomas and Ann Booth of Sheffield circa 1740-1850.They had at least two sons - Thomas baptised dec 20 1799 St peters cathederal -and Luke baptised  1792 st peters cathederal. We do not know if there are more children of Thomas and Ann. Son Thomas went on to marry Lydia wilson 1822 at st peters cathederal and became known for his many business interests in Hanley Staffordshire   Son luke went on to own a cutlery business and died young in 1855 in Sheffield which his son and wife Elizabeth continued to operate.
We would like to find out more about Thomas sr and his wife Ann(nee unk). Would the records of marriage still be at st peters if that is where they were married.? Is there any way to search those early records other than coming across the big pond ourselves  or is ther anyway to find someon to do a lookup?  -----------------------------

Sharren  I would suspect that the Thomas and Ann Booth might be Thomas"s parents as they had a way of naming children for relatives.  I would assume that that location is where he was born but then that is just an educated guess   and he named one daughter Ann.   Richard

Thank you for the lookup  -- This is the correct Lydia Wilson Booth.  I did not know who her parents were  or the exact date and location of birth.
Thomas Booth on the other hand is very difficult for me to research prior to 1851.  They moved to Hanley, Staffordshire between 1841 and 1851 and they are found in Hanley in 1851.  Several of his children were born in Sheffield  prior to 1851. There will be records of He and Lydia that will pop up some place in Sheffield I am sure. I just dont know when. The Marriage record of 1822 you show for them is correct. I have 5 children so far for them starting with Maria b abt 1827  Sarah b abt 1833 Emma b abt 1836 Walter b abt 1839  Henry b abt 1844. All born in Sheffield.. I think there might be one or two more but am not sure.  Thanks again

I am searching a Thomas Booth b abt 1800 in Sheffield
He married a Lydia Wilson abt 1822
I do not know if there were any siblings of THOMAS nor who his parents were.
Thomas and Lydia had several children and a few were born in Sheffield
Maria b abt 1824 -Sarah Ann abt 1883- Emma-Walter-Henry all at later dates.  I am trying to find if there were any others that may have been born 1827 or earlier. Possibly a son Thomas?
Thomas Booth later is found in Hanley Staffordshire  with a Pottery and metal mounting busines.(Brittania Metal and Mounters on Lichfield st Hanley. They also manufactured some pottery and jugs for export and are found in the 1851 trades directory for Hanley as well as the 1851 census for Hanley.  I have not found any records yet of their time in Sheffield and  I am hoping that some one may be able to do some look ups for them .   Richard in the US

The Thomas booth at 13 Piccadily street may possibly be the one we are looking for   His wife was Sarah (maiden unk)  She was the same age as thomas.
Their son Thomas Gimbert was born the end of 1850 so that age is right if that was the 1851 census you were refering to.
The age you have for thomas sr is about right. His wife is listed as Sarah in 1871 and he had a daughter Letitia .Your record shows Letitia as his wife  but that may have been a mistake on the part of the census taker. Letitia would have been born abt 1851 if the records are to be belived.
The strongest point of reference is the son Thomas Gimbert and the name Letitia .Young Thomas Gimbert being the strongest.   All were shown in 1871 as born in Tunstall except Thomas Sr and he is shown as Dilhorn.
It was written some place that Thomas sr may have been a coal miner at some point in his life, but he would have been a pottery maker in 1851 .
This is a close match but not a positive one yet .Do they list the occupation of Thomas Sr??
Thanks ever so much    Richard

Could some one look up Thomas Booth  1827 and family   in the 1861 and 1851 census for  Tunstall   Staffordshire county.  In the 1871 census he   they are shown as living on Windmill? street and he was a earthenware  Manufacturer.  His company became widely known in later years when his son Thomas G Booth took over the business.
The only info I have is through the potteries web site and 1871 census.  Thomas was born in Dihhorn Stafford
His children were Thomas G Booth Fredrick Booth Letitia Booth
Rachel Booth
Jennina Booth
Phoebe Booth   -  All born in Tunstall.  We are trying to find if there is a connection to the Thomas booth in Hanley B 1800 by tracing back as far as we can.  Thanks in advance for all the kind help in advance.
