Thanks for all the information.
Roy -I have a record of my Grandfather Billy Thomas travelling on the Orsova to Australia in 1929.
Does anyone have any more information about "Slam Sullivan"?also would there have been accommodation at the gym for them?
I'm interested because my son lived at one time in Freo and I think this building was nearby.

Thanks for all this information-yes that's the Bill Renwick as I know he married Myrtle Vallis and she subsequently remarried.
Their daughter Rhonda runs the Latrobe Valley bus company and the Kindred Spirits foundation.
James Lloyd Thomas wasn't in Australia it was only Mary's family who emigrated.
The Thomas family remained in South Wales -my Grandparents and my Mum returned to Wales in1934 and my Mum grew up there.
My Mum's brother Billy Thomas was lauded Rugby for Wales and the Barbarians in the 1960's/70's and came on a tour to Australia.
I'm now looking at passenger lists to see whether George Archibald did actually return to Scotland after Carolinedied

William's Father was James Lloyd Thomas -I agree that it would be likely that Mary had a second name but it's not stated on either her birth, marriage or death certificate.
I remember Great-Aunt "Phemie" being spoken of frequently when I was a child and also my Grandmother's stepbrother Bill Renwick who ran a bus company in the Hunter Valley.

Yes Euphemia's parents were
George & Christina Archibald.
My understanding was that George returned to Scotland but I may be completely wrong about this.

Oh wow the record for Caroline Archibald is definitely the right person -my Grandmother's sister Euphemia lived in Australia and died I think in about 1980 and all the other names fit as well.
I'll check passenger lists now to see when they travelled from Scotland to Australia.
The Mary Thomas mentioned could also possibly be my Grandmother as she did shop work in Scotland prior to moving to Australia.
I need to now get a copy of my Mum's birth certificate I think and will then possibly get a street address although I was told by the Records office that it's not certain that it will be included.
Thank you all so much for all your help 😀

No I'm not dismissing that one at all 😀My Grandfather was an amateur boxer from Bargoed in South Wales and he came to Australia initially for a boxing tour met my Grandmother ( who came on an assisted passage as a domestic servant) on the ship and they married 2 years later.
My Great Grandparents were not from Australia.
