I would say you have the right baptism.

My Hill branch are from Cumberland & they moved about a lot, it seems every generation was born in a different place.

I have several brick walls, I keep going back to they & I have just managed to make a break through in the Limb branch.
I noticed I had another Limb family linked to another branch & I followed it back & noticed a separate family that was linked too the Limb's branch.
But I am still working on the connexion. Keeps my quiet.

It looks like Mary was in modern terms the stepdaughter of Robert Handers. It might be a case of a over zealous vicar making a point or they were making sure they knew who to go to if they ended up in the need of alms or in the workhouse.

It was my mistake the marriage was 1781.

I Think the Mary Pullan that had the illegitimate William was the daughter of a William & Mary Pullan. William might have died in 1777, but several William Pullan's so will take some weeding out.

A Timothy Pullan is a witness at the Pullan/Hander marriage, doesn't seem to be a go to witness so I am assuming he is a relative.

Been trying to find Robert Handers the marriage states he is living in Knaresborough but nothing come up.

Might need a tripe to Northallerton.

Just come across a baptism for William Pullan of Knaresborough in 1801.

It says he is the son of Mary Pullan, illegitimate by incest of father in law Robert Handers.

All I can find on Robert Handers is a marriage to Mary Pullan widow in 1791 & then in 1795 at Mary's burial were he is down as husband.

I cannot find any other connexion between the 2 families so I am coming to the conclusion that he is the stepfather or with the death of Mary possibly guardian & not father in law.

Do you think this assumption is right or do you think I am missing  something.

I think you are right about it being Paddock but unfortunately a lot of the parishes had an area called Paddock. I have seen it used in Kirkheaton, Kirkburton, etc. & the Paddock being mentioned is in Huddersfield so it would have said Huddersfield not near Huddersfield so I think it would be one of those in the other parishes.

Unfortunately the Menin Gate is being renovated & they had to hold the ceremonies on the bridge in front of the memorial.

The shops stayed open but do not do a lot of trade & the main street was closed off like it is every night for the 8 o'clock remembrance.

Just got back from Belgium were I commiserated the Armistice at Ypres.

I have a large tree & a while a go I was playing with my tree & set up a spreadsheet to record the ones I have that dies in the 2 wars, I know have over 150.

The first to die was on the 14 September at Vendress. I also have a lot that have unknown graves with 16 remembered at Thieppval & when I look at the list & see that they are from deferent branches of the family but would have no idea they could be related but they could have met in passing.

Upper Agbrigg is a registration area which covered several villages in the Huddersfield/Wakefield area.
If I remember Kirkburton was the main registration place but also had an office in Station Street, Huddersfield.
Skelmanthorpe was also in the area.
