Excellent pictures. thank you for sharing. I have been intending to re-visit Llanfairnantygof for ages, as last time I went I was armed with only note pad and pen.

I do have Cornock ancestors and have a vague link to these Cornocks. So seeing their inscriptions again has renewed my interest in this branch.

diolch.

Pembrokeshire / Re: GEORGE family Llanwnda
« on: Monday 11 October 10 19:53 BST (UK)  »

Thank you for your reply, and the information.

John Owen (or possibly Owens) was born in Llanstinian.
I've not found him on Reg's wonderful site (though his son Stephen, gt gt grandfather is listed)

Its unfortuante that there appears to be several families with surname George residing in the Llanwnda parish during the early 1800's - and that is quite an area to cover.

my search continues

Pembrokeshire / GEORGE family Llanwnda
« on: Monday 11 October 10 14:12 BST (UK)  »

I have two interests in the surname GEORGE in Llanwnda .. and so far neither connected to David Lloyd George's family who were in the same area at the same time.

My great great grandmother was Margaret George 1816-1899 born Llanwnda Parish, she married John OWEN 1814 - ?unknown, he was a mariner. i've not yet traced his parentage.

Margarets parents were Stephen George (?dates) a mariner who married Sophia NICHOLAS 1786-1877 (she was born Pontfaen according to census).

Other children of Stephen & Sophia
Mary born abt 1813
William born abt 1819
David born 1822
possibly another William born 1811 - presumed died in infancy before 1819.

my other GEORGE interest are my great x 4 grandparents
Dorothy George born 1811 -
married Benjamin Thomas in 1831 in Llanwnda
They lived in Trellwellyn.
Dorothy's father possibly called William, but so far I've not found Dorothy anywhere!

Anyone researching GEORGE? who can shed some further light....

many thanks

If anyone can

Aberdeenshire / Aberdeenshire - Peterhead connection - my interest
« on: Saturday 18 September 10 16:24 BST (UK)  »

Ages since Ive visited this site.

Here's the surnames I'm interested in... though anything to do with Peterhead will catch my eye.

My grandmother was born in 1926 in Peterhead, living in both Hope Street and Jamaica Road
her parents were Robert Dixon born 1900 in Norfolk -he was a trawler man
her mother was the Peterhead connection: Johanna Anderson Falconer was born 1902 one of approx 16 children of James Falconer and Eliza Peterkin.

I'm interested in tracing descendents from any of Johanna's siblings or any connection with the falconer and Peterkin families.
regards
Mellie

Anyone with these surnames in their trees or researching other names in this area - I'm happy to help if I can!

Pembrokeshire / EVANS Dinas Cross
« on: Saturday 18 September 10 16:01 BST (UK)  »
my great grandmother Anne born 1882, was one of 16 children born to James 1842- 1899 and Ann Evans 1845 -1890 of Smithfield, Dinas Cross. I have traced descendents of some of her siblings, but are there any more out there.

James' parents were John Evan b 1810 and Margaret born abt 1802.
Ann's parents were Margaret and John Thomas. Margarets' maiden name was Samuel, her parents I believe were born Fishguard.

If you are researching this family or indeed any other family in the Dinas Cross area. please get in touch.

Also researching in North Pembs:
Cornock, James, Morris, Thomas, Owen, Samuel, Nicholas and George.

Many thanks
Mel

I've just come across your entry, I've not been on here for a vERY long time!

The Levi and Maria Thomas family from Llanllawer are on my family tree.

Their son DAVID 1851 to 1916 was my great great grandfather

coincidently their daughter Maria b 1854  was second wife to my great great grandfather on the other side of my dad's tree!.. his first wife being mother to my great grandmother!

I have just read your posting... have not been on this site for a VERY long time. Have you found out anymore about Mary Means?

I live in Fishguard - and I am a Dinas girl by birth....

Let me know if you have any further info on her or her parents and i will see what I can find in the local graveyards.
