Kildare / Re: Marriage in grooms or brides parish?

Far as I recall up to the 1950's in Ireland it was the Brides parish. Unless if living elsewhere permission had to be saught from the Clergy in the Brides parish.

The Church of Our Lady's & St Davids is situated on the Sallins Rd Naas Co Kildare. Not sure about the Cemetary.
The dates mentioned are when the British Army was stationed in the area EG.  Naas, Newbridge & The Curragh Camp/ HQ.
Many of the soldiers lived, married, died & buried  in the surrounding areas EG The Curragh, Newbridge and Naas.
The library in Naas has a Heritage Centre which can be found in the phone book.

Kildare / Re: William and Loveda Alcock Family, Naas (formerly called Rosetown)

Thought I'd reply after seeing the reference to Rosetown (now called Naas). This may be misleading as Rosetown is in Newbridge which is situated appox 5 miles from Naas.
Naas has never been called Rosetown.

Presumely Co Kildare as it was custom and practice for a bride to Marry in ones own home parish.
For what its worth there are Pearses living in Naas Co Kildare.
Mary Pearse (married name & aged 80++years died recently)   Not sure if any sons to carry on family name but  all daughters are mrried. Perhaps try telephone book.

Could it be Curragh? EG Known as Curragh Camp Co Kildare. British Army were in situ untill 1922. Irish Defense Forces now occupy the camp & married quarters.
