thanks everyone for comments.
Both children are now dead. I can only assume she either died
or they divorced which was not particularly common then and maybe she re-married
it's a real brick wall at the moment.

Father Thomas P Newton. she had a sister Lilian.

Hi Sue
Sorry it's taken so long to get back to you, I have been looking into my husband's family for so long and getting nowhere, I was shocked to see a reply at last.   It's great to finally hear from someone who knew of the family.
My husband knows nothing at all about his mother's family so anything you can tell us would be great.
Don't want to open up any old wounds for anyone but it is such a mystery as to why Ann never told anyone about her other family.
Look forward to hearing from you.

My father has an idea that Tipperrary was mentioned when he was younger.
I have looked all through the census's and everyone just says Ireland, so no help from them.  Will just have to keep searching and hoping.  I know the family were originally Catholic.
Thanks though for suggestions.

Hi
You are so busy I hate to ask but I would be interested in the inscription for GIBSON if you have time, possibly from my husband's side of the family.
Much appreciated.

I wondered if there was a church near the Harton colliery or just a
hall used for wedding etc.
Thomas died at Gibson House Bolden Colliery 1975 is this near the Harton colliery.
