Thank you Ambly, for the welcome . Yes Branch 39 is my branch. James Latta and Helen Hart, are as distant as I have been able to get. I attempted to update branch 39 when I was first approached in 1996. However, many years and tracing down the track, I have more records. My direct ancestor in Branch 39 is Jessie Jolly Latta, who married Thomas Robertson. My family came down the line from James Latta and Helen Hart, via their son James.
Have never been able to get a death date for James Latta, so have to assume death took place prior to 1855. Helen Latta died in 1897, her certificate said she was widow of James Latta (drill instructor) There son James Latta, died in 1914 and on his certificate it says his Father James had been a Soldier.
Guess the search for information continues.
