Hello Legend,

Sorry for the delay but any information on this family would be of great interest. Samuel was my maternal great grandfather. Many thanks in advance.

The marriage certificate states Thomas Arkely, coppersmith living at 94 Bryson Street and Agnes Kane living at  17 James Street.

James Kane the bride's father was listed as a Sawyer.

Agnes Kane is listed as 24 in 1914 and therefore doing the maths 21 in 1911 when the census was taken.

There is no profession listed for Agnes

Am I right in assuming that James Street is now James Street South?

Monaghan / Samuel Atkinson - Lisnalong

Hi,

I'm trying to find the date of birth for Samuel Atkinson of Lisnalong. I believe he was born around 1871 and died in 1920. I also believe he was the sub postmaster for Lisnalong. I believe he was buried in Ballybay Church of Ireland graveyard. Can anyone help please?

I've looked on family search and found a possible link to his parents but need the DOB confirmed.

Hi,

I'm looking for details of a Charles Russell Ferguson born approximately 1944 on Skye. Father's name was John Ferguson.

Charles left Skye at some point and married a Martha Robb in Belfast, Northern Ireland on 22 May 1866.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi John,

Sorry I think that's another line. By all accounts my family should have been in the Ardtrea area until 1860 at the earliest. The first sounds plausable, date wise, however  unless I'm missing someone and the family moved to Carnmoney earlier than previously thought then I would imagine it is unlikely. The Henry Greer would have to be a brother of the father of William Greer, Robert Greer, married in Woods Chapel 1853.

I'm told he had a brother John "Greer's Drapery Stores", Ballymena?????? however I have not been able to find any trace of them apart from the marriage as yet.

I'm planning to return to the Belfast in April next year to visit remaining family so I'll have a good scout around then.

Many thanks for your help.

Hi I'm trying to find information on an Agnes Kane, married 1st August 1914 St Anne's Sharkill, Belfast to a Thomas Arkley. She died 22nd February 1959.

The information I'm looking for is date of birth, district and parents names if possible.

If anyone could help it would be appreciated. She is my great grandmother and efforts to ask family members have not been forthcoming.

Tyrone / Greer lookup request
« on: Sunday 26 September 10 18:06 BST (UK)  »
Hi I've just found out in an old letter that the Greer's outlined in

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,481258.0.html

originated from Tyrone somewhere. Having loooked up kinkerswell's info on Robert Greer's marriage in Woods Chapel I've found out that his father was listed as a Thomas Greer.

From the letter I have I believe that he had at least two sons, Robert who married Mary Jane Kennedy and moved to Carnmoney and a John Greer who I am informed became the propiertor of Greer's Drapery Store in Ballymena.

Robert Greer was married on 22nd September 1853 although his age at that point in time is unsure. From census records I could however stab at an approximate age of for Mary Jane as 20 in 1853 and therefore a possible DOB as 1833. I would  imagine that Roberts date of bith would be somewhere within a 10 range either side of this date.

I am particularly interested in Robert's parents names, their location in Tyrone and Robert's date of birth.

In intend to return to Northern Ireland in April once PRONI is open again and it would be useful to know where to look for graves etc.

Gents,

Many thanks for your help with this. The map is fascinating, so much so I'll have to get over to have a look.

As I've said earlier I'm pretty new to this and am finding it quite a struggle to gain any useful info past 1901 from Irish records. My wife's family, english, is a lot easier to research with the main site catering for virtually every type of record.

I've also had a look on the "Family Search site and found Thomas, William's brother was born in Carnmoney as kingskerswell has already stated. The thing is though I tried to get as much info from my father before his death and although we knew of another Greer son we did not know it was Thomas.

Indeed I've managed to go one step further in obtaining names for the two fathers of Robert and Mary Jane Greer who where Thomas' and William's parents.

I would however be interested in looking over the The Belfast News-Letter archives.

Is there a web site for death notices or is a PRONI held source?
