Westmeath / Locke family
« on: Thursday 26 October 23 10:38 BST (UK)  »
I'm looking for information on 2 daughters born in Ireland. Their Father John Locke owned the Old Kilbeggan Distillery and was married to Mary Edwards, (Muds), born 1863, died 1943 in County Westmeath Ireland.

The information I want to find out is what happened to the 2 daughters, Florence and Mary Evelyn. I think one married a soldier and the other someone from the rugby club and also one of them moved to America/Canada. That is about what I know of them.
I have checked:
Ellis Island and Other New York Passenger Lists, 1820-1957, FamilySearch
Census of Ireland 1901/1911 and Census fragments and substitutes,
1821-51
Irish Genealogy. IE

Any help would be appreciated
Joe

Donegal / Re: Ferrie/Porter
« on: Wednesday 06 February 19 19:47 GMT (UK)  »
The marriage I found to John Ferrie was wrong unless she got married when she was 15yr. So I was only told that she got married and can't find any information on her marriage/death or possible children a brick wall that's been with me for a few years. I think this is correct

From Hallmark
JOHN FERRIE was born Abt. 1857 in Donegal.  He married Margaret Porter on the 28 Apr 1904 aged 24 in BURT Co. Donegal, daughter of JOHN PORTER and Ann McIntyre  makes more sense.

Thought it might of interest to see what she looked like. I went through the photos I have of the Porters and written on the back of this one is:
Left is May her mother (Annie Docherty)to the right she only had one child. John Ferrie or Fox? beside Maggie holding the baby and Lizzie Porter to the right

Yes that’s them. Three died in Glasgow and the rest Donegal/Dublin, two sisters never got married Sarah and Elizabeth. I had found two birth certificates for a Elizabeth Porter same father and mother, Sept 5 1889 and Feb 15 1896. The mistake in naming would be a better possibility

Thanks again
