Problem solved, my wife is going to Canada at the end of the year, so we should be able to get to the records. Funny how things turn out.

Thanks to all for your input.

Yep, its 2 years, what I have now done is to contact an independent researcher in Canada to see if the research can be done for me.
I know it will cost, but, that is life.

Thanks to one & all who took time to respond. Its been a five year slog  of writing etc. It is true one has to be family etc etc. I shall hire someone who can take notes  by hand & give me some details of what the subject did during the war.At least I have something to present to my wife.

Thanks again & will let you know the final results.

Regards

Debbie

Thanks for your responce.

I have sent letters using the details  requested by the Canadian autorities. It was just a small surprise for the subjects daughter, my wife as she knew little about her father.

Anyway, thanks

Canada / Canadian in w2
« on: Sunday 06 March 11 16:02 GMT (UK)  »
I have written to the Canadian authorities for my father in law's W2 service records on and off for two years, BUT have never had a reply.

My interest is in the service record of Francis John Melville HAWTHORNE b 25.09.1920 Winnipeg Canada
d. 06.08.2004 London Ontario.

My wife too is interested in her fathers service records. We have no idea what he did in the war. No member of the family can help. We both live in Spain and find it hard to personally to the military archives.

Can anyone advice me, please.
Regards
George
