« on: Sunday 14 July 13 21:25 BST (UK)  »
Hi all.
Our Great Uncle John Studholme joined the Cameron Highlanders in 1892.
He left the UK c.29-03-1893, for Malta, 30-03-1893 to 18-02-1895.
Gibraltar 19-02-1895 to 03-10-1897.
Egypt-Sudan 04-10-1897 to 21-02-1900.
South Africa 03-03-1900 to 09-08-1902.
Then back home 10-08-1902.
Can you please help us find the travel details, such as Ports and Ships he used.
Thanks
Downswilliam.

Once again Stan, thanks for the info.

Just for the record ( and curious Trini )  Jan's grandparents died when she was a very young girl.
We know very little about them. The marriage cert of 1920 has George living at Pont St, Stepney
( in the area between the river and Byker Bridge, now long gone ) and Elsie was living in Maughan St in Benwell also long gone.
We live a long way from the Tyneside area so we now want to try and find photos of the two streets and the registry office in which they married.

All the best wishes,  Downswilliam

Hi Stan
Thank you for the ultra fast reply.
Can you work out which office on your list it is from this info ?

In April 1920, the Registrar was T. W. Ferguson
and Deputy Superintendent Registrar  C. W. Anderson also signed !
All the best

From the info you have given - I have now located Tweddle's Court.

Oak Street ran paralel to, and between Sycamore Street and Scotswood Road.
No.25 Oak Street is also listed as on the Court.

If you look at -
http://yourarchives.nationalarchives.gov.uk/index.php?title=Place:Newcastle_upon_Tyne_Registration_District,_1891_Census_Street_Index_S-T

it is listed as Tweddells Court.

Thanks to you all - very kind people.
