Hi Inr, I haven’t yet found a connection with the George Dewart family but I am working with a Dewart friend and George is his family.  We are trying to connect that link between George and my Robert, Rebecca and others

He isn’t a member of Rootschat so what is the best way to link you both?

George was his Grandfather/Great Grandfather from memory and he went to the US.

I have done DNA but he hasn’t.  I do have two DNA matches with Rebecca’s line and 1 other match from the line of my James Dewart who married Sarah Metcalf - even though we don’t converse lol. Some people just don’t seem to want to do this for some reason, but she has connected with me and doesn’t talk - or respond if I ask a question.

I accept her as I have two cousins who do talk if that makes sense.

I’ve tested on both FTDNA and 23andme. If you’re on these two sites, let me know and I will check and get back to you. Great to hear from another Dewart.  Cheers clemmie

Hoping to get a response from Sue Roberts regarding Rebecca Dewart.  I am in contact with my  DNA matches with Rebecca.  Rebecca is sister to my Robert Dewart bn Hillsbrough County Down.  Would love to collaborate with you and introduce you to other Dewart family, if you are willing.

I’m so sorry  if this has offended you - that was never my intention. I was just quoting what was written about the book.  I will edit my post.

Hi Claire, I'm very interested in the Quinn/Askins family in Enniscorthy.  My Quinns start with my Grandmother Mary Eliza Quinn and go back to the marriage of James Quinn and his wife Bridget Redmond (Bridgets parents James Redmond and Kitty Kavanagh in 1811 in Enniscorthy).

I did collect all of the names of the children of Sally/Sarah and John Quinn - from memory about 11 of them which included 4 sets of twins.  I did indeed feel for that poor lady.

Im hoping they will connect up with my Quinn family but I have been overwhelmed with DNA matches and messages that keeps me from progressing this couple to see-if there is a connection between.   I still have cousins living Enniscorthy and they have been amazed that they are connected on one strand that they didnt know about and in fact my cousin sat next to a Quinn in school and didnt realise they were related until I told her about my research.  We only met 2 years ago online by a twist of fate but were off and running as soon as we met.  Here’s hoping.  I only found out this morning that site wasn't closed by the founder as i thought, many years ago.

There is a book about Rose Quinn of Enniscorthy and its also
about St Senans.  Title Restless Spirit: The Story of Rose Quinn.

It is set around the 1900’s and gave me insight into the culture of the times.   I bought it because I had an aunt Rose whose mother was born Quinn and I was trying to find connection.  It was through this book that I found my family.

This amazing building (St Senans) will become homes for people down the track as Ive been told they are to be renovated into luxurious apartments.

I finally found my family still living in the same place my Grandmother left from soon after the 1911 Census, to live and work in England.

I have an earlier Cullen marriage - Michael Quinn married Anne/Annie Cullen - they had a daughter Johanna Quinn who married John Joseph O'Brien. - all are from Enniscorthy and some of Johannas family still live there today.

Johanna was married 1898.

This information came from her daughter.
