Hi Tommy

I have checked my information about Edward Horatio Bessell's arrival in Australia at the Queensland State Archives (QSA). He sailed in the SS 'Queen of the South', leaving London on 2nd September 1865 and arriving in Brisbane on 8th December 1865. These details are indicated in the QSA Index to Land Orders 1861-1874, and are in alphabetical order by name.

Edward's entry is found on page 65, Land Order 1319, year 1865. The QSA Item ID is 18765, and the QSA reference number is IMM248. The microfilm number is Z2516.

The information states that he was self-funded, having purchased 30 acres of land. There is no indication in that record of the location of that land.

Breconshire / Margaret Jones of Brecon

I'm seeking information about my grandmother, born Margaret Jones in Brecon in 1868. The only other information I have is that she married Ernest Lindsey Wright on 22nd April 1889 in London. Their marriage certificate indicates that Margaret's father, David Jones was a deceased farmer at the time of their marriage.

Australia / Edward Horatio BESSELL's arrival in Australia
« on: Thursday 07 July 11 07:28 BST (UK)  »
I'd appreciate any help with tracing my great grandfather Edward Horatio Bessell's arrival in Australia. He was born on 19th November 1841 in Bristol, UK. He was listed in the 1851 UK census but I can't find him in the 1861 census. He married Agnes Griffin on 28th October 1875 in Charters Towers, Queensland, and died on 3rd December 1911, also in Charters Towers.
Thanks in anticipation,

Again, thank you so much. How do you access this information? I had guessed that Margaret had died as a child, as she was listed in the 1891 census, but not the next one, but I didn't know the information that you have found. What is your secret?
