Australia / Re: Cecil Royal AUBREY - Tasmania - Marriage Look-up

I don't want to wear out my welcome on here but now I seem to be on a roll here goes.

Can anyone help find me any info on Cecil & Ada's daughter Eretta Eveland AUBREY born 1906, Carlton, Melbourne, Australia.

Any information would be appreciated but I would be particularly interested to know if she ever married, to whom and if she had any children. My eventual intention is to put my newly discovered Australian distant cousins in touch with any remaining living relatives of Cecil (Thomas) and his various wives(sic).

Thanks in advance

Geoff

Crikey! as you can probably see I hardly ever use these forums preferring to beaver away on my own but what a wonderful response.

I'm so grateful, thanks sooooo much ;D

I've attached a Timeline Report & Mugshot for Thomas H. A. Penny in case anyone is interested.

Take a look. At one of his trials the Police stated he was "one of the oldest and most astute criminals in the state".

Anyway thanks again to everyone who responded.

It's entirely possible they were not married. I can see quite a bit on him for Trove - he was sentenced in 1900 to two years for fraud, Ada Rourke or O'Rourke was also charged with him but not sentenced.

 - from this it seems they were going as "Mr and Mrs" in 1900.

I don't think he stayed in Tasmania long after release as by 1903 Cecil was in NSW pulling a new trick, accompanied by a woman (name not given).

Around the same time his wife Alice, who he'd married in NSW in 1896, divorced him.

More info on some of Cecil's aliases:

Thanks for all the info. I didn't want to complicate things so I didn't include all the information that I have. His real name is Thomas Henry Augustine PENNY born 1865 Southampton, England. He scarpered from England in 1886 to escape the law. He was an incorrigible rogue who spent a total of 40+ years in various Aussie gaols. He was married at least 7 times, 6 of which appear to be bigamous. I have mountains of newspaper reports, gaol photos e.t.c. but I've just found this marriage. I could go on but I'd be here all day.

I know he married Ada O'Rourke in 1902 in Tasmania, I was looking for the exact date or month/quarter and any other info I can find.

Anyway thanks again I hope I didn't put you to too much trouble.

Geoff
