Hi Michael,

It is amazing to see how much power the name 'Maria Watson' has had- how her name has travelled down the ages!

Emma is a source of much information regarding the Parkers. I have been interested to find that Henry Bernard Joseph Parker (Betram's brother), known as Bernard, spent much of his life in Perth, WA (where I am).

Welcome to the extended family!

Regards,

Monique

Hi Emma,

Thanks for this additional interesting information. Whilst St John was obviously catholic (!) he was a convert from a Calvinist family, thus I am not sure whether/when the rest of his family became catholic. Also, being a priest he had no direct descendants either. I have done a bit of research into his family (very preliminary), but it seems his father was Walter Ogilvie who became 1st Lord Ogilvy of Deskford (and descendants then became Earl of Findlater).

Thanks so much for your help. I would appreciate a copy of your family tree when you get there - good luck.

Stay in touch.

Monique

Thanks so much for posting all that information. It is much appreciated, and I was thrilled that you made contact.

Adela Mary Parker was my great grandmother (not great, great as I had put). I think that makes us the same number of generations removed from Sir Henry & Lady Marion.

Adela Mary married Edward Francis Day (known as Frank). He was one of many children of Sir JCS Day (a Judge). Frank was a solicitor (who moved to South Africa for health reasons). I have a lot of family information going back through the Day side of my family.

Adela and Francis had five children, one of which was my grandmother (also Adela Mary Day, born 10 June 1897 died 29 January 1982).

My goal is to try and prove a family 'myth' that St. John Ogilvie - a catholic saint who was martyred in Glasgow in 1615 is an ancestor. My mother thinks this myth originated via the Parker side of the family ... I am not in touch with any Parkers. Are you able to tell me whether you know of this myth at all??

My mother believed that 'Bernard' had a heap of family information going back a very long way - I wonder where it all is!

Interestingly, I have found (via book on the internet) a different spelling for Lady Marion's maiden name. It is listed as her being the daughter of James Rorauer, of 'the Treasury, Whitehall' - does this make sense or is it wrong?

Thanks again,

Monique

Hello Emma,

I am new to this ... but Sir Henry Watson Parker and Lady Marion Parker are my great (x?) grandparents.

Their daughter, Adela, is my great great grandmother.

I would be glad of any information you have (seems you are years ahead of me in research).

Do you know if Sir H had a son, Bernard that ended up in Australia?
