Hi copperbeech55

Thanks for your message. I see that you were also on contact with Barry Hillier, and Philip Lecane has been in touch with you. I will contact you directly before we all get a bit confused!

Hi copperbeech5

I am one of the team involved in the website www.rmsleinster.com and was interested in your posts about your relative who died on the RMS Leinster and was buried on the Isle of Man. I also work with the National Maritime Museum in Dun Laoghaire which is hosting a special display and a series of events in connection with the Centenary of the sinking next October. A colleague of mine, who is also involved in both the rmsleinster website and the Maritime Museum, visited the Isle of Man earlier this week and took part in a small ceremony at the graves of the RMS Leinster casualties (including Private Hutchinson) who are buried there. He suggested I contact you to let you know that your relative had been remembered. If we can be of any assistance with information about the RMS Leinster please let me know either by reply or by contacting us at the www.rmsleinster.com website.

Best Wishes

Hi Chris

I have been researching the RMS Leinster story, in conjunction with Philip Lecane, but was also interested in the Hobson family in Kingstown as my parents also lived in 28 Northumberland Ave. in the early years of their marriage (1940s).

If you leave contact details on Philip's website (rmsleinster.com) we can keep you informed of plans for the RMS Leinster Centenary commemoration in 2018.

I just came across your post. Did you know that Lt. Hobson, his son, Richard and sister, Elizabeth, are commemorated on his parents' grave in Dunleckney Cemetery, Co. Carlow?

Yes, Aravon School was on Meath St., Bray until it moved to Old Conna Hse in 1984. It 1901 Richard Bookey appears to have been next door to Aravon School and in 1911 he was residing in the boarding school. I believe he became Head Master there in 1912

Hi Balfour

I just noticed your post while I was doing some research on Richard (Hastings) BOOKEY. I have some information about him if you are still interested. He moved to a school in Bray, Co. Wicklow c. 1895 after his marriage in England. He was a teacher and subsequently Headmaster of the Aravon School, Old Conna House, Bray, Co. Wicklow until 1927. The School is celebrating its 150 Anniversary this year.

Best Wishes
