I know a Tom and Winnie Rickson who immigrated to Canada from Rochdale, but they moved to British Columbia, not Ontario. I was just doing a random Google search for Tom's brother, Allen, when I found this post.
Tom is my grandmother's brother. Winnie is his wife. They married in 1943 in Rochdale, Lancashire. They had 1 son, Allen Rickson, who was born May 9 1946 in Littleborough, Lancashire. He died young of Hodgkins Disease (Aug 8 1971) in Victoria, BC. Uncle Tom and Auntie Winnie lived on Vancouver Island and didn't have any more children. She died after a long happy life on Sept 15 1998, and Tom passed away on October 13, 2010.
I'm sorry your mother lost touch with her! She was a wonderful person and I'm glad to have known her.
