Hi, I saw your posts and would just like to query something with you.

I saw that one of your ancestors was Hiram Dobbins.
Can I just ask if Hiram ended up in Aberlour Orphanage in Banffshire ?

Cheers, Carole

I had already been to the archives and i had the grave reference.
It was an old grave ( about 1900) i was looking for and it was for the General Cemetery in Nottingham  - you have to go to the Bulwell Cemetery for these enquiries.
I think it was for them to find and mark the grave out for you (i think)

But as i came armed with the grave numbers and all i thought she might be able to just show me on a map the general area and then i could trawl through them myself .... but no , that wasn't happening, that would be too easy !!!!

I went in person, thinking they could at least just point it out on a map. But i was told it was a £50 fee !!!

A tenner i was begrudgingly willing to pay but not £50.

Hi Sue , Thanks for your reply.

Apart from the census certs, the details for marriages and births  i have are from   www.freebmd.org.uk/

Any baptism or marriage details that expand on these would be gratefully received.

Cheers, Carole.

Berkshire / Jackson family from Faringdon
« on: Tuesday 02 February 10 14:54 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,  I'm researching my family tree and have found a branch of family that originated in Faringdon.
My GGG Grandparents were THOMAS JACKSON (b1811) and HARRIET LODER (b1809)

Roads they and their family lived on were Westbrook,Greater Faringdon / Block Green / Southampton Road / Bell Inn,Market Place / Gravel Walk / London Street / Northfield Farm / 7 CHRISTOPHER SQUARE / 13 CHRISTOPHER SQ / 30 Malthouse / Lechade Road / Union Street.

They had 7 children :

1/ KEZIAH JACKSON (1839) married SAMUEL YATES in 1862.
2/ ALICE JACKSON (1841) married WILLIAM KINCH in 1862.
3/ GEORGE JACKSON (1843) married ANN JENNINGS in 1868.
4/ HENRY JACKSON (1845) married RHODA SMITH in 1888.
5/ THOMAS JACKSON (1849) married JANE HOLMES in 1871.
6/ DAVID JACKSON (1851) married SARAH JENNINGS in 1871.
7/ EDWARD JACKSON (1854) married SUSAN WHITE in 1874.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Any old photo's of the streets they lived in would be great.
Cheers, Carole Dillon.
