Hi Aghadowey, Thanks for the info, never realised it would be that difficult, I posted it on the galway site as I'd seen a lot of entries on the Ancestry site and the name seemed quite common for that particular area, I've concluded that from your posting, my chances of finding any record are almost non exsistent and I don't have the expertise to undertake something such as this.
Best Wishes
Richard

Can anybody come up with a birth reg. for James Miskell b. 1823, surely there can't be that many aforementioned births in that year, any help really appreciated

Hi Liz, That's quite plausible, any suggestions as to how I might find out if that is the case.

Hi Rosie, The 1851 Wales census has James Miskill aged 27, umarried and living at Heol Evan Wynne which is in Pontlottyn, South Wales, In 1861 the census indicates him married with a family, Ellen ( Nall or Hall ) could be one of a multitude of candidates, but again the census says she was born in Ireland, they both appear on the census up until 1871, I have tried & tried to find marriage details without success so decided to farm this one out to someone more knowledgable than myself.
Regards

the  census has them living at various address's in Ponlottyn up until their deaths, Ellen in 1873 & James in 1879, both are buried at St. Sannan cemetery in Bedwellty, I have the death certificate for James but as mentioned in my other posting, cannot find marriage details, unfortunately, Presteigne is a little off the mark, mid Wales I think, but thanks anyway.

I realise that this maybe a long shot but can anyone come up with marriage details for a James Miskill b. in Ireland 1823 and Ellen, (either Nall or Hall) b. Ireland 1838 they would have been married in the Pontlottyn area of South Wales sometime between 1851 & presumably 1856 when their first child Thomas was born, any info would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Richard.
