You might be on to something there - their youngest was 21 in 1911 census which would mean that by the time Jeannie came to live with them c1914 they would have been 24 which would explain why I had the impression that she was the only child. There can't have been that many Presbyterian Mullans knocking around the area! I think her adoptive father died when she was quite young which would also tie in.

Hi, I don't know where she was brought up but one of my cousins thinks that it was Garvagh and that there were some Presbyterian Mullans there.

Hi Mary, thanks very much for your message. I would really like to find out about the Mullans who brought my granny up. I'm certain that they were a Presbyterian family though - I think she told me when I was a child that her adoptive father was a minister. I think that they were an older couple who didn't have any children of their own but I might be wrong on that.

This is fantastic - thanks very much. Was there a census in 1921 do you know?

Hi, my granny was Jeannie O'Kane b1914 d2000, the youngest child of Daniel (the king) O'Kane of Formil and Martha/Mattie Doherty who died shortly after her birth. There were 10 other siblings. Jeannie was adopted by another family (Mullan) so we know almost nothing about her O'Kane family and roots. Does anyone know anything about their history?
