Hi Julie-Ann
This really is very exciting! Let me explain my interest in the family:
My husband is the great-great grandson of a William Bradford who married Emma Howard at St Clement Danes Church in London in 1863. In all the years I have been researching my husband's family, I have been unable to find out anything significant about this branch (the direct male line). At his marriage he gave his occupation as Gentleman's Servant, his age as 19 and his father's name and occupation as William Bradford, Labourer. He then appears on only one census (1871) where his place of birth is given as St Pancras (the part of town in which the family were then living). He died in 1879, just after the birth of his last child, Robert (my husband's namesake and great-grandfather).
I have followed up every possible William Bradford with father also William in the Pancras area and have come to a dead end every time, but a couple of weeks ago I came across another pair of Williams in East Finchley. I may well be on another wild goose chase, but one tiny bit of circumstantial evidence is keeping my spirits up. East Finchley was a pretty small community in the first half of the 19th century (compared to the more developed areas closer to the centre of town) and Emma Howard, who my William married, was living there, as a domestic servant in 1861. So I decided to research this family and hope that, somewhere, there would be a "missing link" - something to connect this William with mine.
So I still don't know whether we are related or not, but I've certainly got a lot of material on the family which I'd be happy to share with you. We should probably do that off this list, to avoid boring everyone else!
Very best wishes,
Caroline
