Tipperary / Daniels Pub/Bar
« on: Monday 20 March 06 00:31 GMT (UK)  »
Does anyone know of a pub called Daniels Pub or Bar it was located in either Tipperary or Clonmel.  If so can you tell me if they are still there and what their address is.  Some of my family visited Ireland a few years back and remember seeing the pub.  But do not remember where it was they said it was either in Tipperary or Clonmel.  There was a butcher shop across the street from the bar.  I hope someone out there will be able to help me.
Thanks

Roscommon / Census Lookup for Mary A. Gormley
« on: Friday 17 March 06 07:17 GMT (UK)  »
Dear listers I need some help and hope someone will be able to do this challenge for me.

Mary A. Gormley, born 1856, married a (?)Gormely and had 5 children,  named: Michael, Bridget, James, Mary, and Annie.  Mary left from
Liverpool, England (at least that is what it says in on the passenger list for the ship Iowa), in February,1887 to arrive in Boston on 7 March 1887 in Boston.  No husband listed with her.  I am assuming that he left two to three years earlier for Boston, MA, USA as their youngest was two years old when Mary left for the states.   I know he was alive in the US as she had four more children born in Boston, MA but she is listed as Widow during the first census I can find which is the 1900 census.  Later a brother Patrick came to Boston From Knockersghery to visit his sister Maryin Boston.  He arrive in 1899.  Is there any way one can check census records prior to 1884 for a Mary A. Gormley and family hopefully the husband's name will show up.  As I have tried all shipping lists but there were so many Gormleys listed and I have no first name for the husband that it could be any one of them, that is why I prefer the census lookup so that I can trace it back to the passenger list or in the Ireland marriage records.   I am not even sure that the Patrick Gormley is actually brother or that he comes from Knockersghery, I am only going on statement on his ship passenger record.

I had posted this message on the English site but was told that Knockersghery was in Rosecommon, Ireland that is why I am re-posting in hopes that someone can do a look up in the census for me.
She would be my greatgrandmother on my father's mother's side.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you  :)

Tipperary / Daniels, William from Tipperary
« on: Thursday 09 March 06 19:20 GMT (UK)  »
I understand that there is a Daniels Bar in Tipperary, my husband visited it years ago and was told that his family worked in the butcher ship across the street.  I am trying to trace His great grandfather William Christopher Daniels who came to the US in 1902, married Margaret A. Whelan in Boston.  He was a coachman, later worked as a horse trainer in Lincoln MA, Genesco, NY and in Maryland.  I know that he had at least one brother if not more who came to the states if not more.  His  birth date is 1880-1.  I would like to get the names of his parents and siblings if at all possible.  Any help would be appreciated.
Look forward to hearing from you.

To Ohio Susan, JoRose and Valerie:
Thank you for all your help.  Because of the information I have been able to find  William C. Daniels in Genesseo NY in the 1920 census.  and because of Ohio Susan's info I am tracing Mary Wheland's arrival and where she lived prior to her marriage to William in Boston.  I have been able to glean the year they were married in Boston and plan to get their wedding certificate.  I have also posted to the meath, Michelstown site in hopes of hearing about her family there.  So many thanks

But I still need the information of William in Ireland in anyone can give any help, hints or information as to where to look I would appreciate.Thank you all for all of your help it is much appreciated.

The census states that he came to the US in 1902.  His birthdate is either 1880-1881.   And I believe that he arrived in Boston.  Beside his entry it states AL, I DO NOT KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS
