Australia Lookups completed / Re: Melbourne General Cem. 1890...is there a list?

Hi Rap,

You can phone Melb. Gen. Cem. on 9349-3014. The office is open everyday except Sunday and the gates are open 7 days from 9-5pm. Give the name you are searching and they will look up the exact location immediately. If you require a map with the grave marked, they will post it to you. Very helpful.

Good luck,

Magoo

Hi Bluesky,

Nothing more to add but just to let you know what info is on The Port Jackson Convicts Anthology about Richard Spiers.

Trial place & year....Southhampton, 1836
Sentence....7 years
Ticket of Leave no. 42/1167
Ship....'Mangles'  departed Portsmouth and arrived Port Jackson 10/7/1837
The number eight in brackets after the name Mangles, refers to the number of voyages made by that ship into Port Jackson...so far

Not mentioned on the Permissions to Marry Index 1826-1851
Not on the Assignment Register
Not on Conditional Pardons or Recommendations
Not on Deaths

Australia Lookups completed / Re: Help Elusive Family in Victoria

Geoff I had a look on the 'Index to Newspaper Deaths in Victoria 1988-1992' and checked the years 1990-92 for your Morrisons, but no mention.

The Index compliments existing Victorian Government BDM's etc. whose information due to time release issues, can't be made public. The contents are compiled from funeral notices, obituaries, law notices etc. taken from Vic. Newspapers and Gazettes. The files can also provide information such as the Executor of an Estate that would not normally be found on a death certificate. Very handy if your person of interest is listed.

Good luck,

Magoo
