Carmarthenshire / Re: Richards Farm connections Llanllawddog and Llanpumpsaint

Hello,

Just a quick word to say that I was born at Llwynsarnau and lived there for the first 30 years of my life. It came into our family around 1895, by which time the Richards' had departed.

Llwynmartin Isaf and Llwynmartin Uchaf are neighbouring farms, Llwynmartin Isaf sharing a boundary with Llwynsarnau. Pencerrig too is nearby. There are/were a few Richards  families in the area, farming in such places as Waungaled, just over the  border in Abergwili parish, and also in Llanpumsaint.

I see that William Richards and family - wife Margaret and children Elizabeth and John were farming Llwynsarnau in 1881, with William's parents, John and Jane preceding him there.

Good luck!

Eurig

Hello,
My mother's family (Llewellyns) are from Llandeilo and Llandybie parishes. (The spelling of the surname varies during the 18th and 19th centuries). My 4x grandfather was Evan Llewelyn (1763-1835) and I am descended form his son David. Another son of Evan's was Rees Llewelyn (1795-1832) who lived at Nantycreigle, and leased Llwyn yr Haf and Abernant farms on the mountain above Glanaman. One of Rees's sons was John Llewelyn (about 1832-1891) and by his time the family had leased more land in the area. One of the farms in the area was Bryn Llwyn yr Haf (now known as Cwmberach Isaf), where Llewelyns still farm.

I have not fully researched this line of Llewelyns, but I hope that the above scant information is of some interest. Mr Howell Llewelyn of Cwmberach passed away recently and is buried at Hen Fethel, as are many of the Llewelyns in my ancestry.

Regards,

Eurig Llewellyn davies
