When I was trying to match up the area of the streets (Abercorn, Scotia, Dobbies), they did seem to be the area that I've seen described online as Cowcaddens so thank you for the information! I'm slightly less confused now 
May I ask if anyone knows where the reference "Cowcaddens" comes from, i.e. if the registration district is Milton, is Cowcaddens just what the neighborhood was unofficially called, or was it an official section of the Milton District, or renamed Cowcaddens later? The district/parish/neighborhood references are tripping me up.

Hello - Thank you in advance for any information.
I am a beginner to researching my Grandfather's Glasgow-born family and am trying to get my bearings as to his family's neighborhood.
All of the families I am researching, app. 1841-1900, lived in "Milton" District, on streets such as Scotia, Abercorn, Dobbies, Kelvin. I have been looking up maps at the National Library of Scotland site and seem to have found the area of those streets (it looks to be the same neighborhood?) but I have been having trouble finding out what that neighborhood was like or what "Milton" turned into. Was it a part of Glasgow?
Is Milton District the same area as what is referenced as Cowcaddens? I was able to find websites about Cowcaddens.
Any guidance is very appreciated!
