Hi Frank

Thanks for your message for some reason there is an error whenever I try and reply to it directly so Im trying this root and hope it gets to you!

Stephen Jesse was certainly my great grandfather I have a photo of him wearing his war medals taken in the late 1950's at Jessie's house

Jessie Caroline Victoria Trowel is indeed my grandmother. Many thanks for supplying her mothers name. I think she was an only child as I was never aware of any aunts or uncles from her side. Although they were not a close family and through some long ago family disputes sadly we now have no contact with that side of the family at all. In fact I don't even know when Jessie died.

Jessie married Frederick Ernest Ball who worked as a printer in Fetter lane in London. Jessie served as a postlady in WW2 but otherwise ran the home and was the unofficial midwife, undertaker and vet to the people around where they lived in Bonham Road Dagenham.
They had three children
Irene Jessie 5/6/28 - 30/12/93 she married Albert George Dawson and they lived in Highfield Close Romford then Cedar Hall Gardens Thundersley.
Frederick E (I think that's E for Ernest) December 1933 - he worked for the oil industry and travelled all over the world and died young I think in the early 70's but can't find out when.
Susan M born Sep 47
Frederick Ernest snr died around 1981 but I don't know exactly when

Thanks for you help I only started looking up the family tree yesterday so I haven't got very far but the information I've found her helps a lot.

Regards

Jane

Hi,
I believe this Stepehn Jesse Trowel was my great grandfather. Sadly I don't know a huge amount about him. He died shortly after I was born in 1960. He was a regular in the army and served with the 14th Hussars in Ireland and South Africa in the 2nd Boer War. In the WW1 he was in the military police. He spend the end of his life living with my grandmother having tried and failed to get a place with the Chelsea Pensioners. My mum told me he was a short man with red hair and a temper to match.
His daughter Jessie was my grandmother although I don't know who her mother was. Jessie married Fred Ball and they had 3 children Irene Jessie (my mum born 5/6/1928), Fred and Susan

Regards
Jane
