The Common Room / Re: Photographs of Kathleen M Carrick b 1899 Gateshead

Thanks for all the information, fairly sure now that this branch of the Carrick family had no direct descendents as her sister died in the 1920s and brother married, and had a son who had no descendents. As Kathleen was 7 years older than my Mother it was unlikely they were fellow pupils at Rutherford. My Mother went on to get a BSc from Durham University.

My first attempt had Doris married to Francis Konczynski in 1951 in East Ward, which became Westmoreland a few years later. But on following it up, it was a different Doris Little. I'm only working on freeBMD as I don't have a current Ancestry or FindmyPast sub.

I had traced the Joyce Little and Doris Little  marriages and found a Joyce Little marriage to McGuire, but there were several Doris Little marriages that seemed to be possible and my first choice proved to be incorrect.  The one you suggest spells Dorris with rr in the register index.  Is this definitely the correct one?  I have also seen the two children of Doris Potter. Thanks for your input.

I have inherited a photo album from my late Mother which includes 6 photos from her youth in Newcastle on Tyne, of a friend called Kathleen Carrick.  They were taken between1917 to 1926 approx when she was a pupil at Rutherford Grammar School. We'd be happy to pass them on to any of her descendents.  I think  Kathleen married John Little in1933 and they had daughters Joyce and Doris.

Is anyone else out there following James Riches Robinson?  There are just a few years I want to find out about, between 1891 when he was a valet, probably to one of the Northumberland family and 1894 when he married and was already butler to Miss Ellen Willmott.

I do recall Mum saying that he used to work at Syon House, it's just the few missing years I don't know about, Alnwick Castle archives might have something but that involves considerable oulay of money to find out!

I have his marriage cert, 31.3.1894 at St Georges Hanover Square. Elixabeth was at 64 Curzon st, he was by then butler to Miss Willmott and his address is Warley Place Essex.  In the book about her, "Miss Willmott of Warley Place" it describes how she received his letter of application as her butler on Alnwick Castle notepaper.  In 1891 he was described as valet, and was visiting his family in Thornham Magna. My Mum always said he'd been butler to the Duke of Northumberland but family stories are awash with chinese whispers!  I'd just like to know what he was doing between 1891-4.

I have all the relevant census information, plus his bmd details, his marriage to Elizabeth took place from the Northumberlands residence in London, she also worked for them.  What I want to find out is if he was butler in the Northumberland family, as he applied for position of butler to Mrs Warley, all the info relating to her is in a book about her life

James Riches Robinson 1861-1935,  my g.g,uncle worked as a footman/valet for the Duke of Northumberlands family 1870s-1880s, then butler for Ellen Willmott, in Warley from 1900 till death.  Any more information out there?
